Bicycle Cupid Back by the United States Card Company

The Cupid red back, also known as the “Cherub Back” was discontinued in 1943. The reason is unknown to me, but i am happy they have been reprinted. The design of all the backs and the tuck, pictured in the corresponding photo, is a side view of an angel riding a bicycle. The artwork dates back to the 1890’s and even though it is over a hundred years old, it has a current feel to it. The faces, style, font and feel are no different than your standard rider back 808’s, except for the one of the two joker, which has the text “Big Joker” on it. A history card, with a cupid back, is entitled “Cupid Back No. 21” comes with the deck and explains some of the history behind the card. Based upon the back design and the history, I rate this deck very highly.
