The Yarn is an outstanding trick by Manuel Llaser and Vernet Magic. With the Yarn, you take a borrowed and signed bill which ends up disappearing. A spectator who has been holding a tied closed paper bag the entire time opens it and removes a glass with a ball of yarn inside. The end of the ball of yarn is slowly pulled by every member in the audience to unravel the ball and at the end of the rolled up yarn is a bill ties to the end of the yarn. That bill is miraculously revealed to be the spectator’s signed bill that had earlier vanished. For those performers that think that card or bill in lemon is overplayed, try this approach where everyone in your audience can be involved in the unravelling of the ball.
With your $29 purchase of The Yarn you get a specially modified gimmick needed to make the magic happen, you get a ball of yarn (some other things that I do not need to reveal) and a password protected link to a downloadable/streaming performance and instructional video. The main gimmick is something that all magicians already have, but it is modified in a way to make this miracle happen with ease.
The 39 minute instructional video stars Manuel Llaser who performs the trick in the Vernet studio to a live audience. Llaser performs in English and the presentation of the trick last about 5 minutes. Although English is not his first language, he is easy to understand and is a good performer with a good sense of humor. After the performance, Llaser teaches the trick. First he explains what needs to be done to prepare for the trick. For most of the instructional video, Llaser is seated at a table and you see the spectator’s point of view. However, when teaching some key moves, you see Llaser’s point of view which makes learning the trick very easy.
I would recommend that you practice the few moves needed to accomplish this astonishing trick before road testing it. The handling is not hard, but you need to get the feel down so it flows.
This trick is great for stage or parlor and can even be used in close up settings. If you try and perform this in a close-up setting, you will not be able to instantly repeat as the set-up takes about 3-5 minutes and is a bit cumbersome. Also, when performing this trick, you need to be aware of audience placement. No one can be standing behind you and preferably, everyone will be in front of you looking right at you. The production quality of the video is excellent and the camera work is great.
Llaser also teaches some additional effects using playing cards and written predictions based upon audience suggestion, but I think the strongest trick is the main concept.
If you are looking for a bill to impossible location, this is for you! The Yarn is fun, mind-boggling, brilliantly-magical and get the highest rating in my book.
You can find this miracle at any Murphy’s Magic dealer!
